Sleep Research Biobank:
The goal of this biobank is to facilitate the collection and storage of blood, DNA, or other biological materials obtained by Canadian researchers, and render it available for researchers interested in biochemical or genetic research of sleep disorders. The biobank will thus facilitate interaction and collaborative projects between clinical and research groups with similar interests and encourage participation in projects that otherwise would not be feasible. Blood samples collected as part of the Canadian adult OSA Database and the Canadian Obese Children and Youth Database will be sent to the Canadian Sleep Research Biobank (Hôpital du Sacré-Coeur de Montréal).
Canadian Adult OSA Database:
This database will include detailed physiologic data from the polysomnography (PSG) and ambulatory recordings (e.g., apnea-hypopnea index, hypoxemia), detailed demographic and phenotypic data (e.g., age, gender, body mass index), medical history, family history, sleep and health habits, history of work schedules, cognitive measures, quality of life instruments, blood markers and genetic markers.
Canadian Obese Children and Youth Database (8 to 16 years old):
This database will include detailed physiologic data from the polysomnography (PSG), detailed demographic and phenotypic data (e.g., age, gender, body mass index, neck and waist circumference), medical history, family history, sleep/health habits, history of work schedules, cognitive measures, quality of life instruments, blood markers and genetic markers.
