The CSCN’s vision:
To mobilize the healthcare community to adopt an integrated approach towards improving outcomes and treatment of patients with sleep and circadian rhythms disorders.
The CSCN’s mission is to:
Generate new knowledge in sleep and circadian rhythms and reduce delays between research outcomes and impact on health by accelerating translation of research discoveries into clinical applications, best practices and/or the marketplace and developing, validating and evaluating interventions that change significant aspects of practice.
- Identify key knowledge gaps and promote/create national and international collaborations among researchers in different areas (biomedical, clinical, health systems and services, population and public health) and with knowledge users to address those gaps in a coherent fashion.
- Promote and facilitate the sharing of ideas, tools, methods, and resources and the dissemination of research outcomes.
- Integrate research and knowledge translation projects into a coherent program which will generate solutions to produce social and economic benefits for Canadians.
- Build a critical mass of technical and scientific expertise on a national scale to enhance the scope of the research and the impact of its translation.
- Incorporate a training and career development mandate targeted to the themes of clinical research, health systems and services & population and public health, and add value to training opportunities already available through innovative approaches.
